In 2009, Orange County Register reporter Marla Jo Fisher wrote a column commenting on the lack of appreciation for black-and-white classic films seen in her kids. In response, Chapman President Jim Doti launched a film festival which turned into an annual event, and this year’s festival is named after Jim Doti, Chapman Dean of Students Jerry Price, and Marla Jo Fisher.

If you have driven by the Fox Theater on Harbor Boulevard in Fullerton, you will notice that it is presently closed and under construction. Though it was closed and abandoned in 1987, the Fox Theatre has been an official landmark of the City of Fullerton since 1990 and was added to the National Register of Historic Places in October 2006.

On Valley View Street, between Lampson Avenue and Chapman Avenue in Garden Grove, there is a semi-quiet plaza in which you will find the AMF Valley View Lanes, the Starlight 4 Star Cinemas, the closed Garden Buffet, and a McDonald’s.

We here at vitaminOC strongly support independent music and independent films! Orange County is lucky to be getting White on Rice the movie at Irvine Spectrum Edwards Cinema starting THIS WEEKEND! The production has taken somewhat of a gamble including Orange County in it’s opening weekend, but having already seen the movie, we’re confident that it will have a nice, long run here in Orange County!

This Friday, in celebration of the release of White on Rice the movie in Orange County, independent artist, Goh Nakamura, will performing a mini-concert in front of the Irvine Spectrum Edwards Cinema riiiight in front of the box office from 6pm to 6:30pm (IT’S FREE!)!
