Yes, we know we haven’t had any updates in a few days. The VitaminOC staff is very involved in an organization called FBLA-PBL, and this weekend was their California State Business Leadership Conference. From preparing for competition to coordinating the events for the entire weekend, the staff members have been both short on time and short on sleep.
On the other hand, it was also a successful weekend for VitaminOC. Many awards were won by VitaminOC staff, along with other students from Cal State Fullerton, Fullerton College, and UC Irvine, …

Ice Blocking — Orange County’s Snow Sledding Substitute!
Alright, I can sometimes be mischievous, and I’m always random, and yes, having fun in a public park past midnight isn’t exactly allowed — usually. But if my way of having fun keeps us kids* out of gangs and away from drugs, then hey, we must not be all that bad!
[*I know we're not really kids anymore, but I sure act like one, still.]
If you find it’s getting late, and you’re looking to have bit of fun (and also to get a bit …

Questing for the OC Night Hike
I’ll admit, I was once a stickler for the rules. But if there’s one thing I learned in college, it is to always take the opportunity to step outside of your comfort zone. And what better day is there to break a few of those rules than on Friday the 13th?
Finding places to hike at night is not an easy task. Parks lock their gates, trails close, and people tell you to leave. Unfortunately, this past Friday night was no different, and consisted of visiting …

“What’s the catch?” Ha! That was exactly my thought as I made my way out to Fullerton to check this place out. If you’re a student at Cal State Fullerton, or if you’ve driven down Nutwood or the 57 freeway recently, there’s no doubt you’ve seen the big white balloon claiming to have Free Tacos on Tuesdays from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m.
Yes, the Cantina Lounge seemed to be offering to students and commuters something that was too good to be true — free food … every week! Not possible. …

If you can’t tell, the VitaminOC’ers love anything that’s free. (I suppose that may be true for all starving college students, low-salaried teachers, and recent grads looking for a job.) This past Friday, we enjoyed another free event that has been taking place on weekends for the past month — ice skating at the Orange County Great Park!
This small, yet very beautiful ice rink is set in an old hangar right near the park’s main attraction, the Great Balloon. Every hour, from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. (the last session …

In these tough economic times, it’s always amazing to see new leaders emerge and take control of the situations at hand. On February 28, I witnessed many of these future leaders take part in the Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) Southern Section Leadership Conference.
This past Saturday, hundreds of high school FBLA students gathered at Fullerton College to put their business knowledge and skills to the test, as well as to develop their leadership abilities in a social and competitive environment. Here, they took the opportunity to network and connect …

If you’re the typical college student, then you are probably out partying late and eating at Denny’s at 2 a.m. But if you are looking for a little more variety rather than the normal Sampler or Grand Slam Breakfast, you may want to check out this 24-hour restaurant at the corner of Main St. and PCH in Seal Beach.
Shore House Cafe — the sign says “outstanding food and spirits.” I can’t vouch for their spirits since I’ve never been there to drink, but their food menu is pretty extensive. There …

This 11.3-mile bike path ascends 930 feet into the rolling hills of Fullerton, passing by parks, homes, a golf course, and commercial buildings. But between the hills and trees, much of the time you don’t see these things, but instead, enjoy the fun route used by many, yet hidden from the rest of the city.
The extent of my bicycling experience starts in grade school and ends in riding a mountain bike on the road for the shorter than two-mile distance to work. However, when my brother-in-law invited me to try …

No one can deny the amount of great food Orange County has to offer. And though I can usually be found enjoying the popular greasy carne asada fries or sharing a massive traditional calzone — all which can be found in the OC — I also like to make the occasional venture into some of the “fine dining” restaurants, which are plentiful in Orange County, as well.
Throughout the week of February 22nd through the 28th, a number of restaurants will be participating in this year’s Orange County Restaurant Week. A …

I’m not exactly your typical gay guy — or your typical guy for that matter. I don’t know much about sports or cars, and up until my 21st birthday, I would have believed that the “LV” on the Louis Vuitton bags stood for Las Vegas.
Fast cars, fancy living, and high fashion are definitely not my forte. But wait, isn’t that what the OC is all about?
A proud former Titan and Cal State Fullerton alum (Class of ’06), I earned my Bachelor’s Degree in Mathematics, with a minor in Computer Science. …
