As an Anaheim resident, this weekend I received my issue of Anaheim Magazine. I am always happy to see the magazine in my mail because I enjoy reading about things going on in my community and it usually has some good stories and interviews with local Anaheim personalities.

As I flipped through the pages of the magazine,  a one page visually appealing article caught my attention. It had the picture of the stunning building shown above.  I quickly found out that that building will  the home to Anaheim’s new transportation Center- ARTIC. The article got me really excited about the  project so I decided to do a little research and share it with you.

What is ARTIC?

ARTIC (Anaheim Regional Transportation Inter modal Center) will be an iconic, timeless transportation facility where people will seamlessly move between transit services to reach Southern California activity centers and business districts. Transit oriented development in the immediate area will integrate with ARTIC to form a vibrant Southern California community. - Anaheim Magazine

Doesn’t that sound awesome? Anaheim (and Orange County) will have a brand new transportation facility that will look like THAT!  The building looks great! The first thing that I thought was that the design will definitely take advantage of the So Cal sun to reduce electricity usage.   Being an Angel’s fan I also noticed the Angel’s stadium ” A” in the back of the picture , so that brought my next question…

Where is it going to be located?

ARTIC will be located across from the Honda Center.  The first step of ARTIC will be to relocate the existing Metrolink station that is at Angel’s Stadium to its new ARTIC location. In the future, not only will it support the Metrolink, but it will also facilitate bus, taxi, car, AND HIGH SPEED train service!

Why do I care?

As explained on the ARTIC information website, Orange County population is growing and will continue to grow for years to come. Therefore, an efficient transportation program is necessary.

Personally, those numbers are not as important to me as the fact that as a young person, in about 2-4 years I will be in the market for buying a home. Projects like this encourage me to continue living in Anaheim and consider it a premier location for business and family. I  want to be there when ARTIC opens and its fully functional. I want to be part of the project; Part of another Anaheim icon, and part of the economic development that would result from it.  I am VERY excited!
