I don’t know what to say.  There are a lot of things happening at CSU and UC systems right now that aren’t making us very happy.  Let’s not let the Asian American Studies department be another casualty to the everlasting “budget crisis”, alright Titans?  Check in the catalog to see how these classes can cover your credits, because they can!  If you’ve ever taken either of these classes, or want to say something about the department, please share below in the comments!  Pass the info along to anyone you think will be interested!  Now here’s the info…

From Prof Tu-Uyen:

I am writing to ask for your help in increasing enrollment for the ASAM classes I will be teaching in the fall.

Due to the budget crisis, we REALLY need students to SIGN UP for our classes so the ASAM Program can grow and we can keep our jobs! We need to have at least 10-15 students enrolled in our classes in order to keep the classes from being canceled – so this is quite URGENT! I understand that you’re very very very busy, but whatever help you can provide in publicizing the ASAM classes would be greatly appreciated!

Currently, I am slated to teach a new AAPI community health class being offered for the first time at CSUF (ASAM 330A). So far, I only have 9 students enrolled in ASAM 330A, so I am worried that the class may be canceled. It’s a new class, so I could really use your help to publicize it. One of my ASAM 300 (Intro to Asian American Studies) class is also currently low-enrolled. I know you have connections to a WIDE network of people so a simple email/ facebook post to people who might be able to help out would be greatly appreciated!

Students can always drop later if they feel the class is not right for them. But right now, we need students to sign up ASAP! Titan 1 registration just ended today, and Titan II registration opens for students to register again on Aug. 4. If our classes don’t fill the minimum numbers by the first week of classes starting Aug.22, they will probably be canceled.

The schedule numbers for the classes are below. The classes with the asterisks are the ones which are currently low-enrolled and need more students. If there are any questions, please do not hesitate to contact me. PLEASE DISTRIBUTE widely.

THANK YOU again for your help in spreading the word!!! Your continuing support means the world to me and everyone else in ASAM!
