Calling All Jazz Cats!

4 April 2009 by Jorge Felix No Comment

Interested in having a day full of FUN?  Fullerton College is hosting the 37th annual Fullerton Jazz Festival this weekend!  The festival will host many local high school jazz bands and professionals from the LA & OC vicinity. This is the perfect venue for them to showcase themselves with the mentality of continuing their music profession to STARDOM!

  • Each jazz group will be judged according to:
  • Their selection of music
  • Their interpretation of different styles of jazz
  • Harmony
  • And  SOLOS!

There are four divisions: Novice, Intermediate, Advanced, and Heavy and will be competing to become the coolest jazz cats in OC!

One of the highlights of the festival will be the noon jazz concert at the Plummer Auditorium where all the clinicians come together and play selected jazz pieces that will definitely blow your socks off!

For the musically inclined, there are great workshops and clinics taught by the music teachers from Fullerton College and professionals throughout the day. This year they are offering clinics for Bass, Saxophone,  Trombone, Guitar, Improvisation, Rhythm Section, Trumpet,  andLatin drumming!

You can also check out the latest in Jazz merch from many vendors that will be there!

So, definitely go out and support your high school if they are there present or simply RELAX & enjoy the sounds of Jazz!
